AMBS Commissioning Service

Friday, May 20, 2011

Every year AMBS has a commissioning service to send off graduating students, retiring faculty, and anyone else who is leaving the AMBS community. As a part of that service each person who is being commissioned asks someone from the AMBS community to bless them on their way. I asked Nate, director of maintenance, to offer my blessing which he graciously agreed to do. At first we jokingly talked about wearing our 'bibs' to the commissioning service but the more we thought about it, the more it made sense. These pants have been an important part of my formation at AMBS, and since I was being commissioned to go out and serve, what better attire?! Everyone had a good chuckle when I stood up in my overalls to be blessed, but those who know me know that there is no Alicia more genuine than an Alicia in overalls!

Nate's blessing for me:

Since arriving here, Alicia has played a major role in maintaining the appearance and comfort of this campus.

Most often you could find her blazing a trail, through snow or grass at the controls of our new Steiner tractor.

Along the way she has also been credited with starting a new fashion trend here at AMBS (reference to the overalls).

My prayer for you is that God will use you as an instrument of his will and that you will bless those around you as you truly have blessed us.

My wish for you is that where ever you may go, may the seasons bring feet of snow and lush green grass and may you have a tractor around to deal with it.

Carrie was blessed by Andy, whom she will be co-teaching the Human Development and Christian Formation course with in fall

3 years of seminary and we're still together!
