New Earth, Heavens New

New Earth, Heavens New

New earth, heavens new, Spirit of God moving;
new seed, creatures new, Spirit of life moving;
new man, woman new, image of God moving.

Refrain:
Sing a new song to the One who has said,
"Behold, I make all things new."

New love, mercies new, Spirit of God moving;
new strength, hopefulness new, Spirit of life moving;
new hearts, spirits new, image of God moving. .....Refrain

New minds, wisdom new, Spirit of God moving;
new law, covenant new, Spirit of life moving;
new name, nature new, image of God moving. .....Refrain

New earth, heavens new, Spirit of God moving;
New birth, creatures new, Spirit of life moving;
new men, women new, image of God moving .....Refrain

from Hymnal: A Worship Book

We sang this song in church on Easter morning and I've had it dancing through my head over and over again this week. As I was on retreat this week, walking down mossy paths through the woods that were just beginning to display their spring green leaves, I felt the earthy and the Holy converge. This is what some call a "thin place" and I was completely at peace to just be in the moment. During my retreat time I also became aware of something new beginning in me as well. Though I have yet to know what exactly this is or what it might look like, it is exciting nonetheless.

I love that song. I miss singing from that hymnal. Without a piano at home, I can't even sing to myself from it. I first heard the term "thin places" in a book by Marcus Borg, thought I don't think he coined the phrase.
