Little cabin in the woods...

Retreat Week 2012 - Carrie and I spent 5 nights in this little cabin during my vacation in mid-October. No one to see, nowhere to go - I actually went 2 whole days without looking at a clock!
We rented the mini-loge at Camp Moose Lake near Sprague, MB - a Camps With Meaning facility of Mennonite Church Manitoba. We had the entire place to ourselves and it was great!

I can honestly say that this was my most relaxing vacation to date.

Lots of time spent by the wood burning fireplace in our cabin

Naps in front of the fire on the rainy days
Roasting marshmallows!

The moose - we named him Moses - because he led us into the wilderness.

Bedrooms

Kitchen - it's hard to find a rental cabin with a full kitchen.

Living space and loft

Yeah, you can't really call this "roughing it" - there was even a full bathroom including bathtub through that doorway.

Stairs leading up to the loft.

View of the lake from the balcony

Lots of deer came by to visit

Now this is my idea of a vacation :)

We had one beautiful fall day so we hit the trails

Carrie building a fire to cook our supper

I love this picture!

No one else I'd rather vacation with!

Bacon wrapped marshmallows - just because.

Ended up with marshmallow glazed bacon. They were good, but probably not worth repeating

Supper cooked over the fire

Brunch
We brought all of our food along and thanks to Carrie's meal planning we had some good eating!

It rained the majority of the time but we went out for walks in the rain and then curled up in front of the fire. It was wonderful!

Our entertainment for the week

Watching DVDs of interviews with theologians - yes, we're geeks!

And that pretty much sums it up!
