Canning tomatoes...

Yesterday Carrie and I canned tomatoes, lots and lots of tomatoes. So far I've picked over 400 tomatoes from our 8 plants. As I've been picking them I've put them in large ziplock bags in the freezer. Now that Carrie's back we decided to tackle the task of canning them. We made tomato sauce, stewed tomatoes and salsa. I think we'll have to have another tomato canning session in about two weeks because there are many more to come!

30+ pint jars later...

did you stop counting at 400, or do you still know exactly how many tomatoes have been picked? Do you think you'll plant the same amount of plants next year??? That kind of harvest will pay for all the work all winter when you can eat home-made tomato EVERYTHING!

What kind of tomato plants did you plant? That's amazing!! Sounds like the Juliet plant I had a few years in a row. Insane amounts of tomatoes!
